17.05.2010Mit Vollgas um die Tonnen
Dieses Wochenende haben wir in der Nähe von Oldenburg auf dem Zwischenahner Meer verbracht. Hier fand die zum ersten Mal ausgerichtete Kurparkregatta statt. Der für die F18 Katamarane eher kleine See, zeigte sich von einer seiner besten Seite. Bei satten 4–7 Windstärken wurden 7 publikumsnahe Wettfahrten gesegelt. In einem Feld aus 23 Schiffen ging es mit Vollgas um die Tonnen. Während den beiden Tagen auf dem Wasser konnten wir uns souverän mit 7 Wettfahrtsiegen den Gesamtsieg vor dem Lübecker Team Frank Rübling/Martin Bach sichern.
Das Zwischenahner Meer bot bei den starken Winden eine wirkliche “Rennstrecke”. Anders als an der Küste konnten sich keine wirkliche Wellen aufbauen, sodass wir auf dem glatten Wasser mit viel Druck in den Segeln um die Tonnen gejagt sind. Die starken Böen und drehende Winde machten das ganze allerdings zu einer anspruchsvollen Aufgabe, welcher wir uns 200m vor dem Ziel im letzten Lauf dann doch noch mit einem kleinen Überschlag beugen mussten. Auch wenn es vielleicht nicht danach aussah, gab es hin und wieder auch einige Baustellen auf unserem Schiff, mit denen wir neben dem Segeln zu kämpfen hatten.
Insgesamt fühlte sich unser Schiff aber sehr sicher und schnell an. Die in den letzten Wochen gesammelten Erfahrungen haben sich bei diesen Bedingungen bezahlt gemacht. Inzwischen können wir immer mehr Geschwindigkeit aus dem Wildcat rauskitzeln, welche an diesem Wochenende wohl der entscheidende Faktor war.
Die Regatta zeichnete sich durch ein gelungenes Konzept aus: Start und Ziel wurden direkt vor das Ufer gelegt, sodass es auch für Zuschauer an Land möglich war, einen Überblick über die Action auf dem Parkour zu bekommen und auch für uns war es erfreulich zu sehen, dass sich viele für das Treiben auf dem Wasser interessiert haben.
Am Samstag wurden wir vom Oldenburger Lokalsender oeins begleitet. Ein kleiner Bericht über die Veranstaltung wird am kommenden Mittwoch um 18:30 ausgestrahlt bzw. kann über den Livestream im Internet verfolgt werden. Zudem ist eine kleine Galerie mit Fotos von Michael Achtermann online.
Als nächstes geht es für uns über Pfingsten nach Scharbeutz zur Langstrecke Reißwolfcup und den anschließenden up&down Rennen im Rahmen des Ostseepokals.
